I Am A Storyteller

I Am A Storyteller

The word "Storyteller" has been absconded. In today's parlance, a "storyteller" is one who helps others "sell stuff" by creating 'stories'.
Which honestly pisses me off. Like - a LOT.
Because I am a storyteller.
I bring to life stories that have languished for over 100 years, dust them off, and allow them to breathe again.
I'm not trying to say that what I'm doing is noble. I don't think it is. I am simply not letting stories die.
Because we are stories.
Every single one of us are stories.
Not just atoms. Not just cells. Not just a mind, a soul, a life.
Stories.
We are the culmination of stories of every single person we have encountered. Every interaction. They have molded us. And shaped us. And forced us to become who we are in this very moment.
Stories are powerful.
They are necessary.
They are you and me.
And they deserve to be told.
That's what keeps us alive. Stories that are passed down from generation to generation.
Photos are great. Images and videos are wonderful.
But they mean nothing without the stories. They just become a frozen moment in time -- with nothing to say.
And what do we do as humans when we come upon a thing like that?
We create a story in our minds. We wonder what it was like? What they might have been thinking, or feeling at that moment?
Stories are not just information to share, or a fleeting moment of entertainment - as so many things are in this current world.
They are necessary. They are real. They are us.
I am taking back the title of Storyteller from the false idols.
Tell your friends.
I am a storyteller.
